Feng Shui and Health & Clutter
Feng Shui and Health & Clutter 4/13/10
Welcome – I am here because each of you have called this workshop together by your desire to improve and support your health. Thank you.
Today I will share with you some tips and cures about Feng Shui Health and Clutter.
How you can tell if your health area needs enhancing:
- Your health needs a boost
- When you are beginning a weight loss program
- When you are planning or recovering from a medical procedure
- When you are beginning or participating in sports, dance, or exercise.
- When you want to strengthen the attributes of honesty and forgiveness
We all know when we are in the zone, vibrationally aligned, like clockwork everything goes smoothly, and we always seem to know the next right thing to do.
Each of us has a vibrational energy. The health of that energy depends on what we are thinking and eating, what we are wearing, and what and who is in our space.
When the vibration is off, our thinking becomes confusing and negative and our actions start to spiral down.
4 Keys to resetting your vibration are:
- Identifying that you have low energy as soon as possible.
- Shift gears by getting outside or get physical( Who cleans when they are mad?)
- Find things and people to appreciate. (it is impossible to be depressed and grateful at the same time.)
- Choose to spiral up not down, look for the message in the problem and what positive steps you can take to solve it, or feel better about it. I write and journal about the situation and list at least 3 actions I can take to improve the situation.
Getting in touch with nature supports our well being. Just sitting in the grass or hugging a tree will sooth and balance your well being. The reason for this is nature primarily has a negative electromagnetic field. It will draw and sooth the positive charges we gathered when we are in doors with electricity. Electronic devices such as TVs, clock radios, answering machines, and electric blankets emit positive electromagnetic fields that can harm our health.
If you need to keep any of these in the bedroom, be sure they are at least six feet away from your body, or twelve feet, in the case of a TV. Cover the TV with a cloth when it is not in use, especially while you sleep.
The Health Area is an Earth Element. Mud packs, warm minerial spring baths, even the expression of setting down roots connect us to the earth. Just like earth, Feng Shui health colors are yellow, tan and brown. The health area of your house is in the center.
To find the health area of your home, divide your floor plan horizontally in three, then diagonally in three. So your floor plan is like a tic/tack board. You can then lay the Bagua map over this area.
The most basic rule regarding Feng Shui health is to make sure that your home is healthy. Keeping it clean, organized and beautiful is the best way to attract positive, healthy ‘chi’ into your space. The energy in your home needs to be free-flowing and smooth like a river. The health of the household is based on balance of yin and yang.
Health improves when we balance all elements. Using Feng Shui, we can adjust the five elements of earth, water, wood, fire and metal by enacting a few easy but powerfully effective health cures.
To balance the earth element, drop nine small stones into any little vase and fill to 70 percent with clear and clean water. Expose this vase to the sky and then put it somewhere on your home or office desk. Repeat this procedure for the next twenty-six days, changing the water every evening.
To balance water, place a small round mirror under your mattress in the place where your head rests while you’re sleeping. The first thing each morning, wipe the mirror for a calmer, clearer day.

To adjust wood, put three potted plants in the house, one by the entryway, one by the living room and one in your bedroom. If one plant dies, replace it with a healthier, more expensive one and watch your fortunes bloom and grow. You may also energize the wood sector (east) of your home with lush green accents, such as pillows, rugs, or window treatment.
To address the fire element, start the day by inhaling deeply and then exhaling with eight short breaths, the ninth breath being longer than the rest. Do this nine times for twenty-seven consecutive days.
To balance metal energies, put a non-metal ring (not plastic, but something like jade or coral) under the mattress where your heart is when you’re lying down. Leave the ring there for three or nine day.
The bedroom is an especially important room when it comes to health, since this is where we regenerate and heal during sleep. Keep the bedroom clean and uncluttered, with a simple decor. Do not bring work into the bedroom. Laptops, phones and exercise equipment are not welcome here.
Keep your home/workplace in good, functioning condition. Do not allow anything to linger in a state of disrepair. Replace anything that is old, broken or faded. Repair peeling paint, cracked walls and ceilings and leaky faucets. Be sure that all windows are in good working condition.

Clutter
Work towards eliminating all clutter from your life. Begin to look honestly at why you tend to accumulate so much un-needed stuff.
The definition of clutter is as follows: 1. it is whatever you don’t NEED. 2. It is whatever you don’t USE. And lastly, 3. Whatever you don’t truly love.
Each area of your home has a symbolic meaning with which you resonate on a subconscious level. Clutter and untidiness within each of these areas causes constriction and inertia in the corresponding aspects of your life.
Rate each area 1-5
CLUTTER IN THE KITCHEN The kitchen has been called the “heart of the home,” and with good reason. Here we are nourished and provided for, even if we are dining on a frozen entrée zapped in the microwave rather than a homemade meal lovingly presented by Mom. An untidy and disorganized kitchen makes it hard to nourish yourself and others, on both physical and metaphysical levels. How you care for your kitchen is a clue about whether you are giving proper attention to your own nourishment and sources of abundance. Cleaning up and de-cluttering your kitchen opens up space for you to receive the support and comfort that you need in life.
LIVING AND DINING ROOM CLUTTER These are spaces where you mingle with and honor your relationships with family and friends. Here you engage with the world while being at home through watching television, reading the paper, or arguing politics with old friends over dinner. Clutter can turn these social spaces into dens of isolation, especially if the mess is so bad that it has been years since you’ve invited people over. Look around your living and dining rooms to see what they say about your relationship with the rest of the world. Are you hiding your true self from others, burying it in clutter, or putting it on display here?
CLUTTERED HALLWAYS Hallways are the arteries and highways of your home. Think of clutter in your hallways as a traffic jam that prevents important connections between different areas of your home and your life. Look at your hallways to see how you feel about your life’s path: are they well lit and easily navigable, or do they trip you up? If you feel a disconnect between work and family, self and others, what you need and your obligations, it may be time to give your hallways a good clearing out.
BATHROOM CLUTTER Bathing and anointing the body is a preparatory ritual for many religious rites both ancient and contemporary. On a daily basis we use this space to prepare ourselves to meet the world. Clutter in the bathroom can indicate a devaluation of self-worth, a lack of attention to self that goes beyond the physical. A clean, well-decorated bathroom can become a tranquil sanctuary for rejuvenation and self-care. Scented soaps, attractive accessories, and fragrant candles have a place here. Beautifying your bathroom by eliminating clutter and disorder and transforming it into a place of refuge will bring a sense of the sacred into your morning and evening personal-care rituals.
CLUTTER IN THE BEDROOM Adults’ bedrooms are for sleeping and intimacy, and they should function as places of renewal for self and relationships. Clutter in the bedroom is enervating without being restful. If you feel “wired and tired,” creating order out of chaos in this most personal space can help you relax and let go of the stress of the day. Then you can get a good night’s sleep or enjoy some special time with your partner.
CLUTTERED CLOSETS Closets represent things that are hidden, unknown, or unrecognized. When we fill our closets with clutter, we stifle our ability to be intuitive and insightful. Cluttered closets can indicate problems that you may not be consciously aware of but which impede your progress through life, work, and relationships nonetheless. Can you imagine, waking up every morning and the first thing we put into our subconscious as we dressed for the day was that we are we are out of control with our weight. When we save cloths that no longer fit us we hold back our best selves. Keeping the closet door closed is not an effective solution.
The easiest way to clean out a closet is this: first remove everything from the closet. Then physically clean it, wipe down the baseboards, vacuum up the dust bunnies, give it a fresh coat of paint if it needs it. Then, put all of the clothes back in. But, here is the trick. Most people will place the hangers with the hook facing towards the back of the closet. I want you to place the hook FACING OUT TOWARDS YOU. Then in a month’s time, move the cloths that remain on the hook facing out. Place them in another closet then pass them on if you haven’t warn them by the next month.
ATTIC AND BASEMENT CLUTTER A cluttered attic creates a feeling of being under pressure. It’s hard to feel optimistic about the future when there’s so much stuff “hanging over your head.” Ancestor issues reside up there, along with all those boxes and chests holding the detritus of generations. And the basement and other below-ground storage areas are considered abodes of the subconscious, so watch your step and get that clutter cleaned up!
CLUTTER IN YOUR GARAGE Think of your car as a symbol of your mobility, independence, and ability to be self-directed in life. If there’s so much stuff piled up in your garage that you can barely fit the car in there, you may be hampered or overly cautious moving forward in life as well. Stop thinking of clutter-clearing as a tremendous chore, and start thinking of it as one of the most effective self-improvement tactics available to you. Every magazine and piece of paper you recycle, every book you give to the library, every knick-knack and item of clothing you release to a new owner creates space in your life for new insight, energy, joy, and experiences to come in!
Cures
Start by space clearing.
- Sweep your doorway if you want your job / career improve.
- Ring a bell in every corner in every room if you want to see more activity in the house.
- Toss out 27 things a day for 27 days
- Light 3 tea lite candles in water, let burn completely, toss the water outside
For Weight balancing: With a black pen or marker draw an outline of a human figure that corresponds to how you believe you look in your current reality. Then draw a second figure inside the first that demonstrates or symbolizes what your preferred and perfect shape would resemble. Put this image somewhere where you will see it as soon as you awake each morning and before going to bed each night. Leave it in this space for the next 49 consecutive days. For a few seconds each day light a black candle and concentrate on your weight just dropping off and what your new figure will look like. Give great gratitude to your body for balancing and dropping the excess and then blow the candle out. The theory goes that as this candle diminishes day by day
Healthy Eating Thoughts-Now close your eyes and start counting backward from ten. Once you get to the last number, see yourself somewhere that makes you feel completely relaxed and comfortable. Check your body to look for areas of stuck Chi or tension. Tell your body to relax as you see yourself lying on a lovely sandy beach or whatever floats your boat. Say: ‘I accept myself freely and completely and will choose to eat and drink only healthy, life-giving and nutritious foods. Use both motivation and reward. You can use your relaxing visual to offer your suggestion. For instance, if you’re lying on a beach, a fish could pop out of the water and say your suggestion to you. End with another suggestion that relates to the first one, such as ‘Whenever I sit down to a meal I will remember these suggestions.’ Now count to ten and open and your eyes.
Calm Cure- The next time you want to promote peace and plenty with the whole family and make your home a happy and harmonious space, put a big bowl of fresh red or golden apples smack in the center of the dining table to add a healthy dose of calm and serenity to your favorite meals
Energy Cure- put a white vase filled with blue flowers directly inside the front door of your home to stimulate a healthy flow of energy and bringing balance to the body.
Change your luck- If you feel like you’ve been having way too many bad days lately and that bad luck has you by the short hairs, here’s an old antidote that can turn all your fortunes around –literally. Standing at the bottom of any staircase, just pull a pocket (this can even be from a purse that you are holding) inside out. Now, walk up a single flight of stairs backwards and then when you reach the top simply turn in a clockwise direction for three full rotations. Since I don’t have stairs I carefully use the crawl space stairs.
In Closing, make an appointment if you want faster results. Remember to have fun play with a few of these cures, and you will surely find your health improving!
